Postseason Recap

The results are in and the Postseason Champ has been crowned!

Congrats to Joseph, who hung on for the win by accurately picking an epic performance by The Bearded One. He was aided by a no-show from Uncle Ed, who was the leader heading into the game but who might’ve been doomed by the Commish’s last-second posting of the picks. The official position of the Commissioner is apologetic.

Some more notes from a night of prop bets, Glorious Mysteries and another Patriots title:

  • The length of Gladys Knight’s National Anthem was apparently controversial enough for some books to pull the bet altogether. The site I used did so, which is why no one got this correct.
  • I’m very disappointed in everyone for getting the Maroon 5 bet wrong.
  • Erain Man really cleaned up last night, predicting everything from the blue Gatorade to the first Jewish MVP. The only ones she missed were the Gladys non-pick and Maroon 5’s edgy, yet touching, opening selection, “Harder to Breathe.” It was hard for all of us to breathe when those familiar notes started playing and we realized that Adam was, as Adam usually is, one step ahead.
  • Mom must’ve been really cranking out the decades ’cause not only did the God-fearing Pats prevail, she got seven out of 10 picks correct, was just a Gatorade miscue away from tying Erin and Adam popped his shirt mid-performance.
  • Remember when we were basking in total self-satisfaction when the Pats won their fourth Super Bowl four years ago? Since then they’ve only gone to three more, won twice and notched the greatest Super Bowl comeback of all time. Now we’re basking even harder somehow. What did we ever do to deserve this?
  • Oh yeah, all of Mom’s rosaries. Thanks Mom!
  • But if all that wasn’t enough, let me direct you to my favorite feel-good moment of a night chock-full of them.
Congrats again to Joseph and congrats to all of you for finally being done with all of this.
