This is just a really weird game

Patrick “should’ve Passed” it roars back into the lineup with an embarassingly bad fumble.  In between the two fumbles, some strange things happened.  For a split second when the Pats were on their own two, there was an awkward shot of Pat the Patriot’s enormous head peeking out from behind Brady.  It was funny because he wasn’t cheering or making any comical jestures, he was just kinda intently watching the game and hoping the Pats could get out of their end zone.

Then FOX had, of all people, Atrell Hawkins, do the promo for  the Cowboys/Giants game.  They then complimented his “pipes.”

Todd Light

These announcers are terrible.  I’ve never heard of any of them and the color guy (no pun intended) just called Matt Light “Todd.”  Also, the camera men are getting really confused by play actions.  I knew this wasn’t a marquee matchup or anything, but this looks like a Marshfield High broadcast.

Some notes

This game is taking forever.  We’ve already had a timeout, a near-death, and a couple penalties.  It’s taken 25 human minutes to play eight game minutes…..The Lions rank last in the NFL in opposing passer rating and the only team in the league to allow opponents to have a rating of over 100.  I moderately predict 750 yards for Brady, and at this rate, 640 receiving yards for Reche Caldwell (He’s on my fantasy team!)…That guy didn’t die, but is probably standing on the wrong sideline…I love that ref, he always takes penalties personally.  I think his name is Triplett.  Watch for him to have a disgusted look on his face the next time someone gets flagged for holding.

Did that guy just die?

FOX cut away really fast, I think he actually did die.  Hopefully he didn’t so this entry isn’t horribly insensitive in a couple minutes.

Ken Walter

Right now, Mom is calling Ken Walter “Ken Walters.”  Later, she’ll call Asante Samuel “Asante Samuels” and reminiscence about the 2003 playoff performance of John “Burke-ette” for the Sox.

Kind of excited

Here it is, the first ever entry of what will hopefully become a weekly thing.

I was watching NFL Countdown on ESPN and forgot to change the channel for a second, so I saw a little more bowling than I would’ve wanted.  But FOX is now on and I don’t recognize either announcer.  Let’s just say I don’t think this one’s going out to a national audience.

Everyone’s picks

Here are everyone’s picks, as given to us by Tim this morning.

Good work on attempting the Google spreadsheets idea, I got a better turnout than I expected.  I’m trying to figure out an easier way to do it.  I think if you all at least get Google accounts, I can make one spreadsheet and allow you to just fill in your picks on the same sheet.
